Armageddon Fighting Championship is a mixed martial arts league established by Darren Owen and Jason Heit in 2007 when they realized the business opportunity for MMA events in Canada. The pair spent two years lobbying local sporting commissions, the RCMP, Cities, parks and recreation organizations to make professional MMA events legal.
On August 22, 2009, AFC’s first event, The Big Bang, occurred at Bear Mountain Arena with 2500 spectators. The Armageddon Fighting Championship is currently broadcast to eight million homes across Canada on the Fight Network and CHEK TV.
AFC entered the mixed martial arts event industry by providing classy, large budget MMA events that showcase local fighters and MMA veterans. With their recent successful appearance on the CBC’s Dragons Den the company is growing at a rapid pace expanding across Canada.
